Villa Carmen was named after Carmen Sylva, Queen Elisabeth of Romania, who used to visit the town. The legend says that her husband got lost while riding through the nearby woods one day and that he consequently donated a sufficient amount of money to the town mayor to ensure that all woodland paths and trails are marked and signs placed. That is how the famous Carmen Sylva Promenade came into being. Villa Carmen is beautifully positioned along the promenade.
